Our Story
The Barbados Labour Party was founded in 1938 by the late Sir Grantley Adams, first Premier and one of Barbados’ National Heroes. The Party has governed Independent Barbados from 1976-86, 1993-2008, and currently from 2018-present under the leadership of the Hon. Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister.
Having enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Canada dating back to the 1700s Canada was among one of the first countries with which Barbados established diplomatic relations in 1966 upon gaining Independence and have continued to strengthen that relationship over the years; with Canada being home to approximately 30,000 Barbadians presently.

Our aim is to continue to foster and strengthen relations between the diaspora and our island home via social services and activities that directly benefit Barbadians and citizens of the Caribbean.
